Higher Education Opportunity Program -  Summer Academic Institute

The summer program is designed to prepare the pre-freshmen for college life, initiate the process of building academic skills and orient the student to the support services available through HEOP/AOP and Skidmore. A summer program is mandated by the State Education Department for all HEOP/AOP programs, as these summer courses pave the way for greater intellectual and cultural confidence and success as students enter their first term of college.

Tentative Schedule

The program generally runs from July 1 to August 1 each summer.

Class at HEOP Summer Institute
Skidmore's program emphasizes academic challenge and achievement (see "Courses"). Live-in residential staff and professional tutors help the students through both academic and social transitions, and seven faculty and professional staff teach the courses. There are non-academic events planned each weekend, one of which is a student leadership conference with other EOP/HEOP/AOP programs from the Capital Region.
