Athletics

15 of Skidmore’s 19 varsity teams made the post-season playoffs in 2010–11, including a national final-four appearance by women’s field hockey, a first-ever Liberty League championship and national tournament berth for men’s basketball, and a 25th consecutive national tournament bid for men’s golf.

Skidmore teams have earned 44 Liberty League championships and seven national championships since 1995.

111 athletes were named to the Thoroughbred Society in 2011 for earning a GPA of 3.67 or better; 24 of them earned a 4.0.

Summer/Special Programs

The College’s summer term offers coursework, internships, and independent study and facilitates a vibrant faculty-student research program.

The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies Program provides individualized, interdisciplinary graduate study in a low-residency format.

Academic-year residencies bring students together with world-class scholars and artists, such as Michael Ondaatje (McCormack Visiting Artist-Scholar Residency), David Bruce (Carnegie Hall Premieres), the Klezmatics (Perlow Series), Sari Nusseibeh (Greenberg Middle East
Studies Residency), and Zana Briski (Carr Distinguished Interdisciplinary Lecture Series).

Skidmore hosts nationally known summer institutes including the Skidmore Jazz Institute, Summer Dance Workshop, SITI Company Theater Workshop, and New York State Summer Writers Institute—for precollege, college, postgraduate, and professional students.

Skidmore provides programming for area youngsters and senior adults and also participates in community partnerships with the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, SaratogaArtsFest, and others.
