
Checklist for Applying
First Year Applicants, Regular Decision
- $65 application fee. No application can be processed until fee is received or a request for a waiver has been submitted
- Common Application
- Secondary School Report filled out by secondary school guidance counselor (includes official high school transcript)
- Two academic Teacher Evaluation Reports
- Midyear Report filled out by secondary school guidance counselor
- Standarized testing scores (from the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT with Writing Examination) sent directly to Admissions from the appropriate testing service (Skidmore's CEEB code is 2815; the ACT code is 2906)
- If applying for financial aid, follow the instructions on the Financial Aid website
International Applicants
- Requirements as listed above
- TOEFL scores for those for whom English is not their first language
- Secondary school and university-level transcripts and recommendations;those not in English should be accompanied by an English translation. Transcripts should include explanation of grading scale/system
- The College Board's International Student Financial Aid Application, available on Skidmore Admissions website (click on Financial Aid)
Early Decision Applicants
- Requirements as listed above
- Early Decision Agreement form, including student, parent/guardian, and guidance counselor signatures
- Testing must be completed by November of senior year for Round 1 and December for Round II (Skidmore's CEEB code is 2815;the ACT code is 2906)
- If applying for financial aid, complete the College Scholarship Service Financial Aid PROFILE no later than November 15 (Round 1), or January 15 (Round II)
If submitting an art portfolio (not required)
While prospective studio art majors are not required to submit a portfolio, you are invited to send ten to twenty 35mm slides or ten to twenty digitally photographed and/or scanned works of art on a CD or DVD. Slides should be encased in a 9" x 11" plastic slide sheet and be clearly labeled "VISUAL ART". Label each slide or print with your name, medium, size and date. If you choose to send your portfolio as digital files, each image should be submitted as a separate file in .jpg format. Individual file sizes should not exceed 3MB. You must also include a printed contact sheet/thumbnail page of the images on your disk. Please do not affix any adhesive labels to your CD/DVD. Portfolios much be submitted to the Admissions Office no later than January 15. Applicants who wish their portfolio returned should include a stamped, self addressed envelope.
