Peg Jackson, DPA, CPCU
Dr. Peggy M. Jackson, DPA, CPCU is an author, consultant, and nationally recognized lecturer in risk management, business continuity planning, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. She is a Principal with Adjunct LLC in San Francisco, CA. Dr. Jackson has written or co-authored six books on risk management, business continuity planning, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for nonprofit and small business audiences. John Wiley & Sons will release her most recent title, Nonprofit Strategic Planning: Leveraging Sarbanes-Oxley Best Practices, in September. Dr. Jackson earned a doctorate in public administration (DPA) from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and holds the professional designation of Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU). ![]() Jessica Lanning has been originating real estate loans for nearly a decade, helping her clients increase their assets through managing debt, maximizing equity, and investing in real estate. A member of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) and the California Association of Mortgage Brokers (CAMB), Jessica is the only mortgage professional in California to complete both of NAMB's rigorous certification programs to earn the Certified Mortgage Consultant (CMC) and Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist (CRMS) designations. Jessica focuses on helping her clients successfully integrate their mortgage(s) into their overall long- and short-term financial and investment plans to help minimize taxes, improve cash flow and minimize interest expense. This includes helping clients manage their home equity to increase liquidity, safety, rate of return, and tax deductions. She fuses an intuitive sense of market timing and strategy with a knack for simplifying the complex so clients can make informed decisions. She is also a member of the State Bar of California, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), and the Financial Women's Association of San Francisco (FWASF). She holds a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a JD from the Univeristy of California at Berkeley. Jessica is available as a public speaker, and is a provider of continuing education courses for Certified Financial Planning professionals, insurance professionals, attorneys, and CPAs. She has also served as an expert witness in litigation matters. She lives in San Francisco with her husband, two kids, and their yellow Labrador Retriever. Noah Shanok, '97, is currently the CEO of a pre-launch podcast portal. He launched Houndbite.com, a "you-tube for audio" in 2006 as part of his research into the promising podcast market. Noah was the Founding VP of Sales for StubHub.com, which was recently acquired by eBay for $310 million. He was also a Consultant with the Boston Consulting Group and a Bond Trader with Chase Securities. In addition to a BS from Skidmore, Noah holds an MBA from the Wharton School.

![]() The Thurs, March 15 event featured a former venture capital investment analyst for Harvard University 's endowment from 1982 to 1985. Ken received an MBA from Columbia University in 1987, then served as American Express Manager of Entertainment Industry Marketing from 1988 to 1992, and Visa USA Director of Restaurant Industry Marketing from 1992 to 1993. He then left the industry briefly to attend the Musician's Institute for guitar. In 1995 Ken opened Zinzino Ristorante (honored by James Beard House, Chronicle Top 100, Examiner Top 50, etc.), which he sold in 2001. He has owned and operated The Grove Cafe on Chestnut Street since 1999, and The Grove-Fillmore since 2002. Each Grove is designed combine “rustic-lodgey” with “interesting and cool, with great music,” serves American comfort food, and functions (depending on the needs of the guest) as coffee house/cafe/winebar. Ken writes: “I love the cafe business (usually!) because it incorporates topics I'm passionate about, and would be even if it wasn't my living: food, music, design, travel (to get ideas, stuff for the cafes), people, and business. I like the mix of Art and Commerce.” He has been a board member of Golden Gate Restaurant Association since 1999, and President from 2004-05. He is also Trustee for the Contemporary Jewish Museum. ![]() On February 13, 2007, Michael Berger, ’91 is the Director of Channel and Product Marketing at Xora, a fast-growing company in the Mobile Resource Management space. Xora enables businesses to track the location and activity of their workers through GPS-enabled mobile phones. Michael recently moved to California from Boston, where he spent three years at Bose Corporation in Business Development. Prior to that he helped take MCK Communications, a company that made VoIP gateways which allowed traditional phone systems to communicate over packet networks, through a successful IPO. Michael moved to the Bay Area with his wife Rebekka and his six year old son Zachary (pictured).

![]() On January 9, 2007, San Francisco alums listened to Gregory A. Rutchik, '87, Intellectual Property Litigator and founder of the Arts and Technology Law Group (www.rutchik.com) discuss "From the Trenches: Top ten deals and disputes of 2006." Greg received a J.D. in 1992 from the Beasley School of Law, Temple University, Philadelphia, then served as a Fulbright Fellow at the University of Tokyo, Graduate School of Law from 1992-93 where his focus was the licensing of technology by Japanese information technology companies. In the mid-1990s Greg worked with the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts in New York City representing independent songwriters, film producers and arts entities. He then worked as an associate with Ostrolenk, Faber, Gerb and Soffen in New York City, with a focus on semi-conductor patents, trademarks and copyright litigation. In 1998, Greg joined the Information Technology Practice Group of Cooley Godward LLP in Palo Alto, CA, to work on software and information technology clients. He was then retained as Assistant General Counsel to two Cooley Godward clients: www.noosh.com, a web-based procurement entity, and at www.Loudcloud.com, an infrastructure managed services company. Treuhaft is responsible for leading product strategy and new business development. VeriSign's Digital Content Services provides content aggregation, rights management, subscription management, portal hosting, transaction authorization, billing and payment mediation and data intelligence solutions for mobile, broadband and broadcast entertainment applications. |
