Katherine teaches in her areas of research and interest: nineteenth- and twentieth-century art and design, including a history of photography, as well as gender studies. Katherine's particular area of scholarship is twentieth-century representational art, an area in which she has lectured widely and had essays published in journals such as The Woman's Art Journal and GLQ: A Journal of Lesbian and Gay Studies.
