Internships and Volunteering
Internships (AH399). Internships allow students with substantial experience in art history (normally juniors and seniors) to gain professional skills and connections in art-related organizations such as museums, galleries, auction houses, and arts councils. This privilege offers opportunitiesfor exceptionally motivated students who work well independently and involves special responsibilities for you, your internship supervisor, and your faculty sponsor. Be sure to plan well in advance and approach your prospective supervisor and sponsor with a thoughtful proposal for a specific experience. Note: only three credits cancount toward your art history major.
Volunteering. Non-credit, unpaid work can be a valuable learning experience, networking opportunity, and qualification for subsequent internships and jobs. You are encouraged to pursue volunteer opportunities at art-related organizations such as museums, art galleries, and community centers with arts programs.
