Welcome to the inaugural issue of Bold Moves, a newsletter tracking the progress of Skidmore’s $200 million fundraising campaign, Creative Thought Bold Promise.

Launched in June 2004 to underwrite goals identified in Skidmore’s Strategic Plan, the Campaign had attracted $121 million in leadership gifts and pledges by the time it was announced to the general public a year ago. In the past 12 months, alumni, parents, and friends have added another $19 million, bringing the Campaign total to $140.1 million with 30 months remaining. The Campaign’s near-term goal is to reach $155 million by the end of this fiscal year, May 31, 2008.

Already the Campaign is increasing student aid, fostering faculty excellence, enhancing academic and extracurricular programs, and investing in facilities such as the Arthur Zankel Music Center, currently under construction at the entrance to campus. The enthusiasm generated by the Campaign is evident across campus and beyond, not least in the record number of exceptional students applying for admission.

As Bold Moves highlights milestones achieved in the four major areas of the Campaign, it will cast many of those successes in terms of their impact on the students Skidmore is equipping to lead examined, productive, creative lives in a modern world.

Thank you for your continued support.
