Campus Campaign

Campus Campaign Kickoff Photo Gallery at the Tang, October 27, 2006

Dear Members of the Skidmore Faculty and Staff,

You are probably aware that Skidmore's Creative Thought Bold Promise campaign is a comprehensive $200 million effort to sustain and further enhance the College's capacity to do what it does best:  educate students to be independent and creative problem solvers and prepare them to be the leaders of tomorrow.  The campaign was officially launched here at home on October 27, 2006.  It is fitting that the campaign was commemorated first within the campus community, for we are the foundation for everything Skidmore is today and will be in the future.  The College’s mission and evolution, and the campaign that will help fuel our ambitions, are our common effort.

As colleagues and employees of Skidmore College, you regularly make a difference to so many—to students, each other, the local community, and those connected to our College in other ways.  Skidmore simply wouldn't be Skidmore without you, today as ever.  Your work enables the College to provide an outstanding educational opportunity for our students and, for many, a life changing experience.  On behalf of all your colleagues serving on the campus campaign committee, we seek your help toward perpetuating Skidmore's soaring reputation.

As chairs of the campus campaign, we ask you to join us and other employees of the College in a collective opportunity to show that we truly believe in the superior worth of a Skidmore education.  Indeed, we urge you to participate by making a gift or pledge to the campaign, bearing in mind that the number of donors is key.  More than 70 percent of the campus community supported the last campaign almost ten years ago.  We know we can do even better than that.  Our collective participation now will demonstrate the campus community’s commitment to Skidmore, and to the promise Skidmore holds for the future. This, in turn, will encourage others—alumni, parents, friends, corporations and foundations—to participate in the Creative Thought Bold Promise campaign.

Skidmore has many institutional priorities, all of which need funding.  There are many choices for you to make and direct your gift.  The choice is yours.  What is important is that you participate.  Your tax-deductible contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference to Skidmore and add to the success of our common effort.  This campaign marks a crucial moment in Skidmore’s history.  Just as we are each part of this moment, so, too, should we be part of this campaign.

With many thanks.
