SCOOP: LODGING
Have you thought about hiking and canoeing, but you're not quite ready to pitch a tent under the stars or carry a fully-loaded backpack for miles? For students who are uncomfortable with the idea of a complete outdoor camping experience (Wilderness), we suggest SCOOP's "LODGING" component. The Great Camp Sagamore provides lodging (beds and bathrooms) for approximately 60 students from the Class of 2013. As a SCOOP participant, you will gain an introduction to the history, culture, and traditions of the Adirondack region. During the day, you'll canoe and hike throughout the Adirondacks with an experienced, licensed guide, sit around the fire at night with your new friends, and have the chance to ask about Skidmore, res life, academics, clubs, sports and more. The fun of canoeing and hiking will be enhanced through the Skidmore-Sagamore outdoor learning venture which we hope will inspire a sense of individual responsibility to nature and community.
For those of you who prefer to experience SCOOP by camping in the great outdoors, please see our three WILDERNESS options for further details.
