SCOOP WILDERNESS:  HIKING AND CANOEING

For first-year students who prefer the challenge of a complete outdoor experience, WILDERNESS participants will camp in tents. Students who choose to experience "Hiking and Canoeing" will hike over six miles in four days in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains. You'll enjoy the pristine waters of Raquette Lake or Blue Mountain Lake as you paddle your canoe over six miles (life preservers are mandatory and will be provided). Along the trail, you'll have a wonderful opportunity to ask your peer advisor any and all questions about Skidmore, where to shop in Saratoga, the best places to eat out, and where to go on campus if you need help. At the end of your wilderness experience, you and your group will have established life-long friendships and made life-long memories.

Experienced licensed guides and SCOOP Peer Advisors will ensure your safety and enjoyment. Students who opt for this program will be provided with a list of camping needs. We urge you to wear broken in hiking boots.
