Honors

To be recommended for departmental honors, a student must maintain a 3.0 GPA overall and a 3.5 GPA in the major. Students must complete a research project in CH 371  and CH 372 , submit an honors thesis to be read by the faculty mentor and a second reader, and give an oral presentation of the research to the department. In order for a student to stand for honors, the advisor and second reader must assess the thesis to be excellent and of honors caliber. The department will consider the recommendations of the advisor and second reader in addition to the oral presentation and overall record of the student in the determination of honors.
