January break: A great time for networking

Skidmore juniors, seniors and recent graduates are encouraged to network with employers at Career and Internship Connections (CIC) career fairs set for early January in Boston, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, and Washington, D.C.

These programs – taking place between January 5 and January 9 -- "blend the best of a career fair and pre-screened interview event," says Mike Profita, director of career services.  Participation is limited to students attending 16 CIC colleges and universities with whom Skidmore has entered a recruiting partnership. These include Cornell, Johns Hopkins, the University of Rochester, and Washington University in St. Louis.

Although the December 1 deadline for participating in pre-screened interviews has passed, Profita encourages students to attend a two-hour "open forum" that kicks off each event. "Up to 20 percent of interviews actually are scheduled through the open forum, and many employers even hold space for interactions they have at that time."
