After four years in the making, I've completed writing and recording my newalbum titled Acoustic Daydreams, which chronicles the experiences that Ive had over the past four years from leaving home to getting ready to leave college. It is a full-length, full-color, shrink-wrapped album with a purpose larger than my own ambitions as a songwriter. All proceeds from album sales are going to the Makhulong Childrens Village, a home for orphaned, abused and abandoned South African children.
As an education major, I traveled to South Africa for a month during the summer of my sophomore year and taught for a week at the Edendale Primary School. This is the site of the orphanage, where 24 children are currently living in two buildings. The goal is to build several houses in the village, so that 6 children can live in each building with a foster mother and father. The orphanage wants to offer its children security and the restorative healing power of family life and values. This is where you come in. Your donation would help to feed, educate, and house these children.
1,000 copies of Acoustic Daydreams have been produced and are ready for distribution. Thats a lot to sell, but its nothing in comparison to the donations that the orphanage needs in order to make the Childrens Village the best environment possible for the most children possible. To show the extent to which I am devoted to this cause, I am covering all expenses in terms of CD creation, mastering and duplication. That means that 100% of your donation goes to the orphanage. Im now asking for your support and urging you to please help out.
The minimum donation for an album is only $5 (or $7 with shipping and handling). As with any charitable cause, this is only a suggested minimum amount and larger donations will be accepted and greatly appreciated. The orphanage is not an official charity and does not have a website. However, if youd like more information, just contact me. I will accept cash or check. Due to the fact that this is not an official charity checks will have to be made out to me. I am placing all checks and cash into a special savings account and at the end of the fundraiser I will write a check with the grand total made out to the orphanage. Karen Brackett of the Education Department and Early Childhood Center at Skidmore is taking students to S. Africa again this summer and will deliver the check at that point.
My album features a diverse array of songs but for the most part Id consider the music to be in the acoustic, pop rock, or alternativerock genres. All songs are fully produced and most include drums, bass, guitars, vocals, keyboards, and more.So far we've raised well over $7,500 but there are many more CD's to selland a lot more money to be raised so please spread the word! Please e-mail if you're interested in making a donation!
My sincerest thanks,
