FIRE SAFETY MONTH
October is Fire Prevention Month. The history of this fire prevention initiative has its roots in the Great Chicago Fire, which occurred on October 9, 1871, killed hundreds, and destroyed about four square miles in Chicago, Illinois.
There are many things you can do to improve your safety at home, school or work from a fire.
Install smoke detectors in all your hallways and bedrooms at home
Create a fire safety map and escape plan that includes: two different ways out, assigning someone to call 911, assigning someone to help others getting out, and a place for everyone to meet once everyone is out
IF YOU HAVE A FIRE, get out and STAY OUT!
