Karole Armitage/Armitage Gone! Dance company
Location: Dance Center: Dance Theater
Date: 03/23/2013
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Description:
The Office of the Dean of Special Programs and the Department of Dance are pleased to present 2013 McCormack Visiting Artist-Scholar Resident Karole Armitage. Hailed by some critics as an heir to both George Balanchine and Merce Cunningham, Karole Armitage will showcase her new "Fables on Global Warming," a "performance art musical" about sustainability based on traditional animal fables from around the globe. The hourlong work, for eight dancers and three musicians, explores the connections between humans and animals, culture and nature, science and art, entwining dance, song, and visual puns with Asian theatrical traditions.
