North Woods Presentation and Tour
Location: Bolton Hall: 280
Date: 10/08/2011
Time: 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Description:
The present Skidmore College campus is located on land that prior to 1960 was known as Woodlawn. Its grounds contained largely forested land with a large lawn, several estate homes and more than 20 miles of trails dating back more than a century. Some of the historic carriage trails still remain and are part of the Skidmore North Woods trail system.
On October 8, join Associate professor and chair of the Economics Department, Robert Jones, for a short overview of the history of the North Woods in Bolton 280 from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and then a tour of the North Woods following some of those historic carriage trails from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
Participants should meet in Bolton 280 at 1 p.m. for the talk. Participants should meet in the Palamountain/Gannett Lobby at 2 p.m. for the start of the walk. In the event of rain, Professor Jones will offer a narrated video tour in Bolton 280.
Sponsor:Sustainable Skidmore
Attendance Info: All are welcome. Please dress accordingly for a walk through the woods. The trails do have some steep sections, but are relatively easy to navigate.
