100 Names for Love
Location: Palamountain Hall: Davis Auditorium
Date: 11/16/2011
Time: 5:30 PM
Speaker: Dr. Diane Ackerman
Description:
Pleased to bring the author, Dr. Diane Ackerman, to campus for a speaking engagement on November 16th. Dr. Ackerman is a prolific essayist, naturalist, and poet, and has recently published a memoir, “100 Names for Love: A Stroke, a Marriage, and the Language of Healing,” on her experience caring for her husband following his stroke as well as chronicling his recovery process. This lecture provides an excellent opportunity for a broad cross-section of the Skidmore community with diverse backgrounds to engage in discussion with a scholar with broad interdisciplinary interests. Below, you will find a link to Dr. Ackerman’s website. Included among a number of notable honors and accomplishments, she has had named after her a molecule found in reptilian secretions, the Dianeackerone, and she has hosted a Nova mini-series (“Mystery of the Senses”) inspired by one of her books, “A Natural History of the Senses.”
Please save the evening of November 16th for what is sure to be an engaging event. Book signing and refreshments to follow her talk.
