Working Families Party Information Table
Location: Case Center: 2nd Floor, Information Desk area
Date: 04/04/2012
Time: 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Open to campus community only.
Speaker: Barak Kemeny
Description:
The Working Families Party is a progressive grassroots party that fights for the 99%. (http://www.workingfamiliesparty.org/jobs/)
Formed by a coalition of labor unions, community organizations and grassroots activist, our aim is to make our economy and our democracy work for all of us, not just the wealthy and well-connected. We elect progressive candidates, win groundbreaking issue campaigns and shape the debate in city halls and state capitols in New York, Connecticut and Oregon...and we’re growing fast.
The WFP is poised to take advantage of this moment to translate activist energy into policies that will make people’s lives better. Over the last twelve years, WFP has come to have a major role in New York political advocacy, electoral campaigns, issue based campaigns and helping to shift and change the debate.
WFP is seeking, fun, talented, determined and outgoing activists to help mobilize support on economic & social justice campaigns. These are paid positions.
Staff serve as one of the prime builders of the WFP’s supporter/voter base and a key shaper of the party’s public brand. In addition staff works with WFP colleagues to integrate issue campaigns with the work of other departments and the party's broader priorities.
WFP invests in passionate people with excellent communication skills and for those exemplary applicants, a generous benefits package is offered, including salaried positions, paid sick days, health care, paid training, opportunities for travel, creating satellite chapters throughout the state, and positions with our out-of-state affiliates.
