Description:
Participants will be exposed to the theoretical framework of the "stereotype threat" in school as reflected by mainstream media patterns or "archetypes."

Participants will discuss the correlation between negative archetypes and poor (perceived) performance in the classroom.

Participants will discuss the influence of media images on teacher/student expectations in the classroom.

Participants will participate in engaging thought exercises.

Participants will walk away with new, simple, but effective vocabulary that they may implement the very next day at school.

Participants should be forewarned; you will never see media the same way again!
