Noteworthy Green Buildings in the Hudson Valley: A Virtual Tour, Review, and Critique
Location: Palamountain Hall: Davis Auditorium
Date: 02/12/2013
Time: 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
Speaker: Barbara Restaino, Gail Beverly
Description:
Green building in the Hudson Valley holds promise to mitigate or solve many of the pressing development issues in the region, from stormwater management to greyfield reclamation. The USGBC is pleased to present a virtual tour of noteworthy green buildings in the Hudson Valley.
Barbara Z. Restaino, RLA, LEED AP, BD&C, and Gail Beverly, a Certified Sustainable Building Advisor, LEED GA and Green Roofs Professional, will provide a presentation on sustainably designed and built structures in the Hudson Valley.
The buildings on the tour include restored industrial structures, new construction, zero/net-minus residential developments and those that demonstrate features such as living roofs and daylighting. These types of sustainable approaches are models for future development and a reproach for the continuation of careless development practices in the region. The projects overviewed are an amalgam of public, private and governmental developments and, as such, represent the full range of possibilities in the region.
