"Women of Color in Higher Education" a Black History Month Panel Discussion

Location: Palamountain Hall: Gannett Auditorium

Date: 02/17/2010

Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM

Description:
In this Martin Luther King/Black History Month program, moderated by Dean Rochelle Calhoun, panelists - including Gretchel Hathaway, Senior Director of Campus Diversity and Affirmative Action at Union, Lorna Shaw, Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at The College of Saint Rose, and Muriel Poston, Dean of the Faculty and Professor of Biology at Skidmore College - in their own narratives as women of color, will discuss the role the Civil Rights Movement and the work of MLK, Jr. has played and continues to play in their education, careers and lives. How are we, as individuals and/or as a nation, successfully continuing to fulfill this legacy and reach toward equality? How and where are we failing and how do we ameliorate this? Where do we have yet to go and how do we work to get there?
