"Empire of Illusion," a lecture by Chris Hedges
Location: Palamountain Hall: Gannett
Date: 10/14/2010
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Speaker: Chris Hedges
Description:
Chris Hedges, author of "War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning" (2002) and "Empire of Illusion: the End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle" (2009) and a graduate of Harvard Divinity School, was a journalist in Central America during the Contra wars and is now a Senior Fellow at The Nation Institute. He will talk about the hidden and not-so-hidden costs not just of our two wars but of being in denial about being a nation at war. This lecture is part of an on-going series of events, located principally at the Wilson Chapel, called "Theater of War in a House of Peace" which is sponsored by the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life. This lecture is at Gannett Auditorium.
