Description:
Bernadette Meyler is Professor of Law and English at Cornell University, where she teaches a range of courses on constitutional law and law and the humanities. She has also served as the Leah Kaplan Visiting Professor in Human Rights at Stanford Law School and the inaugural Mellon/LAPA Fellow in Law and the Humanities at Princeton University. Professor Meyler is currently completing two book projects, "Common Law Originalism" (under contract, Yale UP) and "Theaters of Pardoning: Four Chapters on the Concept of Sovereignty from Shakespeare to Hobbes" (under review, Stanford UP).
Her articles have appeared in numerous law reviews and peer-reviewed journals, including, among others, the Stanford Law Review, Cornell Law Review, UCLA Law Review, Boston College Law Review, Georgetown Immigration Law Journal, Law, Culture, and the Humanities, Diacritics, Studies in Law, Politics, and Society, and Theory and Event. She received a Mellon Fellowship in Humanistic Studies and a Chancellor's Fellowship to complete her doctorate in English at the University of California, Irvine. Following law school at Stanford, she clerked for the Hon. Robert A. Katzmann of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
