The Japanese Program

The Japanese program is housed within the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.  The core of the Japanese program is a four-year language curriculum.  In addition, the program offers a variety of courses on Japanese literature and culture, many of which fulfill both the Non-Western Culture and Humanities requirements, and may count towards fulfilling Asian Studies, Gender Studies, or International Affairs requirements.

Skidmore College offers an Asian Studies major that includes among its requirements at least two years of language work and additional focused coursework on either East Asia (China or/and Japan) or South Asia (India).

This site provides information on program faculty, courses, the Asian Studies major and minor, career opportunities, and study abroad in Japan.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Masako Inamoto at minamoto@skidmore.edu.
