FOSA golfingThe 9th Annual Thoroughbred Cup Golf event will take place on Saturday, June 22, 2013.

Athlete or not, all are encouraged to come golf, play tennis, join us for the dinner at the newly renovated Murray-Aikins Dining Hall on campus, or participate in the on-line Silent Auction. All proceeds from the tournament go towards enhancing the athletics experience for the current student-athletes.

This year's golf event will take place at the Saratoga Spa Championship Course, one of the premier public courses in the Saratoga-Capital Region of NYS, and a consistent recipient of 4 stars from Golf Digest’s Best Places to Play.  The original holes were opened in 1936.  In the late 1950s golf course architect William Mitchell was brought in, and designed the course we all enjoy today.  Shortly thereafter, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player played a commemorative round to celebrate the reopening of the course.  Set in a pine forest, the course derives much of its character from the majestic pines that frame several holes, creating a feeling of seclusion and surrounded by the natural and historic beauty of Saratoga Spa State Park.

The Friends of Skidmore Athletics (FOSA) initiative promotes the improvement of the College's athletics program. In addition to coordinating the Skidmore Athletics Hall of Fame and various alumni athlete outreach events, FOSA also provides the fundraising framework through which donors can support the overall athletics program, our intramural sports activities, our fitness and recreation programming, and individual intercollegiate teams. Proceeds from the golf and tennis outing will be used to support an ongoing initiative to strengthen coaching resources for intercollegiate teams at Skidmore.
