Course Description

Description: What happens to the human body when science and society clash? What types of decisions do we make about food, exercise, body weight, and anti-aging products? Do we make decision about health care, exercise and wellness based upon societal norms or informed science? In this seminar, students will explore the myriad of physiological and sociocultural factors that cause or contribute to certain human health conditions. Students will investigate such topics as ideal body weight, body image, proper diet, and appropriate exercise regimens. Additionally, students will consider how perceptions of exercise, fitness, and health are influenced by aging, physical disability, or injury.
