The Campaign at Work – Gifts in Motion for Scholarship
Throughout its history, Skidmore College has focused on providing a life-changing education. Scholarships are critical to ensuring that students receive this transformative experience and are prepared to be independent and creative problem-solvers in our society. Whether creating opportunity for many to receive an education originally thought to be beyond their means or the chance to learn from classmates with broad backgrounds and interests, scholarships are the foundation of Skidmore's vibrant community. The following Campaign gifts will help to attract the best students and to fulfill their financial needs to attend Skidmore.
Seniors and Parents Step Up
Dedicating their gift in memory of classmate Phillip Eckstein, who died in his junior year at Skidmore, the Class of 2007 more than doubled the amount raised in any previous senior-gift effort. Their parents followed suit, adding a record $545,355 to use for the Annual Fund and to create The Class of 2007 Phillip Eckstein Memorial Scholarship. Each family's gift or pledge also made a lasting mark on campus: an engraved brick, bearing the student's name, placed in the plaza near Case Center.
