Alexandra Tedaldi '09Alexandra Tedaldi '09 describes the life-changing experience of her year with the Teach in China program available to Skidmore alumni. Read her article.

 


Mimi Liedtke '09, Willy Steigman '09, and Ashley McEvoy '09 have been traveling around various Asian since November 2009. They started out with the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOOF) organization in Japan, then went on to South Korea before 3 months in South East Asia with visits and tours to various temples and museums in Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. As of early March 2010 these three friends have landed in India where they plan to be for 2 months, hoping to add an experience on a Saffron farm to some more adventures with WWOOOF, in addition to exploring as much of India as possible.


Antarctic Adventure - Skidmore alumni went to Antarctica for a winter cruise.

Jonathan Brestoff '08Jonathan Brestoff ’08 learned just before Thanksgiving that he won a Mitchell scholarship to study in Ireland.  He is one of  only 12 Americans selected to receive the scholarship, which honors the work of former Maine Senator George J. Mitchell.  Read more.

 


Joseph Kaifala '08Joseph Kaifala '08 has had several articles published in the online journal Foreign Policy in Focus. You can read one of his articles at the link below:

Joseph was born in Sierra Leone and spent his early childhood in Liberia. At Skidmore, Joseph majored in International Affairs & French, with a minor in Law & Society.


Foreign Postings: Skidmore College is all over the map—or at least its alumni are! As Skidmore expands its global relationships, in the classrooms and out in the field, more alumni will be more internationally active than ever.


Arwa Damon '99 (photo courtesy CNN)To Not Forget: CNN correspondent Arwa Damon '99 has covered the execution of Saddam Hussein, shared stories from an Iraqi women’s prison, and reported on battles from Baghdad to Samarra to Fallujah. Born in Boston, she grew up mostly in Morocco and Turkey; she speaks Arabic, French, and Turkish. At Skidmore she double-majored in French and biology and minored in international affairs. Alumni Travel Program: The travel program is open to alumni, parents and friends who have a desire to travel with Skidmore. We relaunched our efforts in the summer of 2006 to great success and hope to be able to offer two trips per year. We welcome input on potential destinations through our travel survey.
 
Future trips include a trip to Antarctica in January 2009 and a trip to the Dalmatian Coast in June 2009.
