Health Services is closed 11:30 AM to Noon during winter break and the summer.

* During the summer, all Skidmore students working or taking classes on campus are eligible for services offered by Health Services.  However, summer services are limited compared to during the school year.

Overview of Services

Skidmore College Health Services provides the general range of services that you would expect to receive from your family health care provider. This includes, but is not limited to, treatment of general medical problems, injuries, sexually transmitted diseases, and provision of immunizations, birth control counseling and gynecological examinations. We even have a part time certified nutritionist! Health Services also provides a limited on-site laboratory. However, most blood tests, throat cultures, Pap smears, and STD tests will be sent to an outside laboratory. Referrals to specialists, both in the community and in neighboring cities, can be arranged as need arises. The Health Services also provides educational opportunities that focus on increasing health awareness, health maintenance, and illness prevention.

Student Services Include:

  • General Care for illness/injury
  • General Lab testing
  • Physical Exams for health maintenance
  • Women's health/gynecological exams
  • Evaluation, testing, treatment (when possible) of STD's
  • HIV / AIDS information, counseling, testing, and support
  • Alcohol/drug information, education, counseling and referral
  • Sexual assault/sexual harassment information, prevention, education, counseling and support
  • Smoking cessation information, education, and support
  • Diversity information, education and support
  • Resources for health/illness/wellness related topics/issues for articles, papers, etc.
  • Appointments can be made by the Health Center staff with community specialists, e.g. dentists, physical therapists, etc. when ordered by a health care provider.

Most services are offered at no cost.
