Forms for Students
Each graduating member of the Honors Forum must complete an citizenship project of at least 15 hours in one semester before the senior year. The project will must be academically rigorous while benefiting a community on or off campus. For a complete list of the project's requirement click here.
Each year members of the Forum place the best of their work and their reflections of the year in an electronic portfolio. The portfolio is a record of the member's time at Skidmore and in the Forum.
This electronic form is used by students applying for Academic Festival. Each application must be completed and sponsored by a faculty member.
This electronic form is to be used by student applying for admission to the Honors Forum. Each application must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a Skidmore faculty member. Faculty recommending students to the Forum should use the recommendation form.
As you may have noted in the Honors Forum flyers sent out with other Registration materials, Honors Forum members have the opportunity to pre-register for a space in an Honors course prior to regular Registration. Preregistration will guarantee you a space in one Honors Forum course only.
There are two options available for those students wishing to undertake an independent study. The first, HF271/272, is designed for first-year and sophomore students whereas HF 371/372 is designed for juniors and seniors. Each course is an independent research or project opportunity for a well-qualified student working at honors level. In consultation with a sponsoring faculty member, the student proposes to the Honors Council a project that builds upon the student’s academic background and interests and concludes in an honors paper or project to be shared with the wider student community. The Honors Independent Study may not be substituted for available honors courses.

The Skidmore College Honors Forum has a modest budget to support and co-sponsor activities, events and projects (typically in the range of $50-$200, occasionally above $200) that contribute to the intellectual quality of life on campus. Examples of programs include academic events such as special lectures, debates, research presentations, symposia, as well as cultural and social activities that bring honors forum members together with other students. Programs for which funding is sought should serve to foster academic and social connections among students and enhance intellectual discourse beyond the formal classroom. The Honors Forum expects that all co-curricular programs that it supports will promote the mission and goals of the Forum to its members and/or the College community at-large.

Proposal for Senior Capstone Requirement
Each graduating member of the Honors Forum must complete an honors capstone project during the senior year. In most cases the capstone will be a substantial, culminating project (thesis, research report, performance, exhibit, etc.) defined by the student's major department(s). In some cases, however, the capstone for the Honors Forum might be a paper or project of especially sophisticated design to be completed within one of the student's "traditional" 300-level courses.
At the end of each academic year Honors Forum members who wish to continue their membership must submit a reapplication form. Members of the Honors Council and Executive Committee will review each reapplication over the summer looking for evidence of participation and engagement with the Forum over the past year. Members will receive an response to their reapplication by email. Failure to reapply will result in discontinued membership in the Forum.
Students may use this form to indicate a temporary or permanent cessation in their Honors Forum membership.
