
Honors and Prizes
All honors and awards are dependent on students meeting (1) academic requirements and (2) standards for academic integrity at Skidmore College.
- DEPARTMENTAL HONORS
Departmental honors are awarded to any student who graduates from Skidmore College after no fewer than three semesters and who meets the following conditions: a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher for all work in the major; a grade of A- or higher on his or her colloquium paper; the completion of any other academic criteria established by the department and described in the Catalogue, and a favorable recommendation by the department; a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher based on all work taken at Skidmore; and approval by the College faculty upon recommendation by the Committee on Academic Standing. Students who major in more than one department may receive departmental honors in every department in which they meet the requirements.
- PHI ALPHA THETA
Phi Alpha Theta, the international honor society in history, was organized in 1921 and the Alpha Delta Tau Chapter was established at Skidmore College on April 20, 1989. The charter members consisted of students Matthew G. Berger, Francis Paul Buckley III, Laura Anne Gilman, Haidee Lorrey, Eric C. Rath, and Kimberly A. Shapiro, and Professors Daniel Balmuth, William E. Brynteson, Joel Gordon, Richard Bach Jensen, Allen F. Kifer, Tadahisa Kuroda, Patricia-Ann Lee, Jennifer Delton and Margaret Pearson. Tillman Nechtman serves as faculty advisor to the chapter.

THE LEE HISTORY PRIZE
Established in honor of Gladys and Gordon Lee, parents of Patricia-Ann Lee, Professor of History, who joined the faculty in 1967, and awarded to an outstanding student in English or European history. -
ALICE FARWELL WARREN PRIZE
Established in honor of Alice Farwell Warren, Professor of History 1937-1962, by an anonymous donor, and awarded annually to an outstanding student in History.
