April 24-26, 2009

The INCS format is fairly unique.  Your final 8-10 page papers are due on March 15. They will be posted on a protected website so that fellow participants can read papers of sessions they plan to attend before the conference begins.  Then, at your actual session, you'll be strictly kept to a 7-minute time limit.  You can choose to read 2-3 pages to remind your listeners of the longer argument, but panelists often use the time in other ways as well--to show slides, to explain succinctly the key issues in the argument, or to offer a telling example.  The goal is to launch a genuine discussion of the papers that actively involves the audience as well as the panelists.  The result is generally a lively, engaging, illuminating hour-long discussion that continues into the sessions and receptions that follow.
