Microsoft Home Use Program

Software Eligibility Request Form  

Instructions:

This request form is intended for use by Skidmore faculty and staff to request Microsoft software, including the Office suite as well as the Windows operating system, for personal use under Microsoft's Software Assurance Home Use Program (HUP) in conjunction with the college's institutional campus agreement. Software may not be available to some faculty and staff, dependent upon specific employment eligibility requirements in accordance with Microsoft's program guidelines.

If eligible, your request will generate an approval to purchase, however please bear in mind that there are stipulations associated with this program as follows:

1. Under the Home Use Program, employees who are users of qualifying applications at work (e.g. Office 2007 for Windows) may acquire a licensed copy of the corresponding Home Use Program software (e.g. Office 2007) to install and use on one home computer. Under HUP, employees may only purchase either Office for the MAC or for Windows, not both in keeping with the one computer-one install rule.
   
   In addition, Microsoft home use rules state that you are entitled to purchase only once during the life-cycle of any Office version. For example, once you purchase Office 2007 you may not purchase Office again until the next version is released (e.g. Office 2010). Employees may continue using HUP software only while employed at Skidmore and/or for as long as Skidmore participates in the Microsoft Software Assurance program.
   
   
2. If eligible, employees will be provided with a program code to access the Microsoft HUP site, to then be followed by a Microsoft generated email granting access to the software download. Employees will also be given the option to purchase a backup DVD for future reinstalls. Please note that Skidmore's IT department does not provide personal computer support, but will suggest a local business to assist you if needed.
   
   Each software download will cost $9.95, with an option to purchase a backup DVD for an additional $12 plus a fulfillment fee.
