Skidmore voicemail system upgradesSome of the features / benefits include:
- 24-hour confidential messaging capability with other students, faculty,and departments on campus.
- Access to your mailbox at any time from any touch-tone phone.
- Mailboxes are private and secure, passcode-protected.
- Each message in your mailbox is time & date stamped.
- Messages can be retrieved, erased, or stored remotely.
- Users have the ability to retrieve messages from any phone.
- When finished with your VM - simply hang up!
Voicemail Initialization Instructions (New User Tutorial)
Please follow the steps listed below to initialize your voicemail account, to change passcode and record a personal greeting.
PLEASE NOTE: These instructions are ONLY applicable for first time users to initialize a voicemail (VM) box. This is a one-time effort and once your VM box is initialized the routine is slightly different.
From ON-CAMPUS: Dial 7400
A) If you are dialing from your personal /office extension:
- when prompted for a passcode – enter 666666 (six- 6's).
- the next prompt will be the sytem asking you for a new passocode.
(min 4 digits in length - DO NOT USE YOUR mailbox number). - the system will ask you to re-enter the new passcode.
- the system will then walk you through recording your “name” and then your VMbox “greeting”.
- simply hang up when finished.
B) If you are dialing from any other telephone extension:

when the system answers press the * key.

the system will ask you to enter your mailbox number.

enter your 4 digit extension/ voicemail box number.

when prompted for a passcode – enter 666666 (six- 6's).

(min 4 digits in length - DO NOT USE YOUR mailbox number).

the system will ask you to re-enter the new passcode.

the system will then walk you through recording your “name” and then your VMbox “greeting”.

simply hang up when finished.
From OFF-CAMPUS: Dial 580-7400
- when the system answers it will ask you to enter your mailbox number.
- enter your 4 digit extension/ voicemail box number.
- when prompted for a passcode – enter the default of 666666 (six- 6's).

- the system will ask you to re-enter the new passcode.
- the system will then walk you through recording your “name” and then your VMbox “greeting”.
- simply hang up when finished
Operating Instructions
Once users have initialized their voicemail box follow the Voicemail USER Instructions below to:
- Access your Voicemail account.
- To change your personal passcode.
- To record your personal greeting and manage personal options.
From On Campus:
- Dial 7400 from your telephone.
- When prompted enter your passcode.
From Off Campus:
- Dial (518) 580-7400 and wait for system to answer.
- When prompted enter your passcode.

Voicemail playback options:
1 Save current voicemail
2 Forward message to extension
- Enter voicemail number followed by # or 2 to dial by name.

- This prompt repeats until you press # to finish addressing recipients.
- To send forwarded message press 1 or press 2 to record comment.
Option to set priority status will be offered.
3 Skip to next message
4 Replay current message
5 Reply to current message
1 Call back to the sender of the current message.
2 Reply with voicemail. Listen to reply options, record message.
6 Play text in message body
7 Delete this message, play next
8 Play envelope information
4 - Send Voicemail
Enter voicemail number followed by # or press 2 to dial by name.
This prompt repeats until you press # to finish addressing recipients.
Record your message and Hang up to send message.

1 Record voicemail greeting
When finished recording new greeting make sure to:
press "1" to save.
press "1" a second time to confirm.
2 Review your standard voicemail greeting.
3 Record your out-of-office voicemail greeting.
4 Hear your current out-of-office voicemail greeting.
5 Record your name.
6 Review your name.
7 Deactivate your current out-of-office voicemail greeting.
9 Deactivate your standard voicemail greeting.
5 - Administrative Options
3 Set Your Passcode.
4 Playback Options.
1 Set verbose (prompts will be extensive) or Brief (prompts will be minimal).
2 Sort by oldest or newest first.
3 Play high priority messages first.
4 Play mailbox confirmation.
5 Play status confirmation.
6 Configure voicemail status announcement
7 - Manage Deleted Messages
1 Manage Deleted Voicemail.
1 Save current voicemail.
2 Forward message to extension, and listen for more options.
3 Skip to next message.
4 Replay current message.
5 Reply to current message.
1 Call back to this number. Listen to call options.
2 Reply with voicemail, record message, listen for special options.
4 Restore all messages.
5 Erase all messages.
6 Play text in message body.
7 Delete current voicemail (final delete).
8 Play envelope information.
