Media Services Move
Media Services has moved to the basement of the Lucy Scribner Library. Please stop by to see our new facility. Our production lab area has expanded, and we now have two private editing suites where individuals or groups can gather to do video and audio editing without disturbing or being disturbed by the rest of the lab. In addition, our production area has expanded to allow a more efficient and pleasant work environment. The space includes a new window for the checking out of cameras, recorders, data projectors, and other equipment. We hope this will add to the efficiency and security of this process.
Even if Media Services staff is not working, the general production lab will be available whenever the library is open. This will allow users more flexibility when working to finish their projects.
Of course all moves have good and bad aspects. The one downside will be that we are no longer housed next to the auditoriums where many community events occur. We are exploring different ways we can still maintain our fast service to these locations. We will be maintaining a satellite area between Emerson, Davis, and Gannett with equipment and video recording capabilities with this in mind.
Please be patient as we shake out the bugs of moving to a new space. The lab and production area should be a much more pleasant and inviting area to our clientele. It is anticipated that in the long run, the move will greatly improve our overall service to the entire Skidmore community.
