Requirements for Thesis & Honors
To be eligible for departmental honors, a student must (1) attain a GPA of 3.60 or higher for all course work taken in the department and required for the major, (2) complete MB349 with a grade of A- or higher, and (3) complete an independent project during his/her senior year, earning a grade of A- or higher. This is a 2-semester project that must go beyond work required in our regular Management and Business classes and must be presented to departmental faculty during Academic Festival upon completion. Examples of types of projects that could qualify include, but are not limited to a research-based thesis, a comprehensive or case study, or an SSEP project.
If you wish to pursue honors, it is clearly in your best interest to understand that the burden of responsibility falls on your shoulders. Specifically, you are responsible for:
1. Identifying your topic of interest and seeking out a faculty member in the department who will advise you on your topic.
2. Getting your honors proposal approved and signed by your thesis advisor and then subsequently registering for MB 373 in the Fall, and MB 374 in the Spring.
3. Participating to the fullest extent while you are completing your project.
4. Earn an A- or higher on your completed project and present your completed project at Academic Festival.
