INTERNSHIPS & SUMMER PROGRAMS

1) Garnet River is interested in trying to bring in a couple of paid interns for summer programming jobs.

Positions we're interested in trying to fill would have somewhat flexible hours, but we'd be hoping for at least 30 hours a week, the majority of which would be spent during standard M-F business hours at our office at the corner of Divison St. and Railroad Pl. The positions would be paid, likely in the $10-$15/hr range based on experience. Below is a very brief skill set list:

  • Have completed at least one year of CS studies. Preference given to candidates going into their junior or senior years.
  • Specific programming language experience not tremendously important as we believe strong candidates with good fundamentals can pick up a new language quite quickly. However, experience with either Java or C# is probably a plus.
  • Other skills that might be valuable (depending on projects):
    • HTML / CSS / Javascript
    • Knowledge of relational databases and SQL
  • Excellent communicator, both verbal and written.
  • Solid grades, both standardized (SAT, etc.) as well as Skidmore course work.
  • Recommendation(s) from a Skidmore professor.
  • Sharp, bright, quick learner.

The exact projects that we are targeting for this summer are still a bit up in the air, and will also depend on the applications we receive, but regardless, the intern would be working right alongside some of our seasoned veterans and would have ample opportunity to learn the necessary skills.
