1) Opportunity for supported Ph.D. studies at The University of Texas, Arlington
Here's an opportunity for a fully supported Ph.D. study in Health Informatics in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at The University of Texas at Arlington. For this opportunity we have Department of Education backed funding (through a Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need grant) to support U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident students for their Ph.D. studies. This opportunity is open to both M.S. and B.S. graduates, the latter through our expedited B.S. to Ph.D. program. The theme of our GAANN program is health informatics, an area in which our Department has many excellent researchers, focusing on such high tech research as bioinformatics, medical imaging, medical robotics, smart environments, smart health devices, etc.

4) The Council on Undergraduate Research hosts a Registry of Undergraduate Researchers.
The purpose of this registry is to facilitate matchmaking between undergraduates who have research experience and a desire to pursue an advanced degree, with graduate schools seeking high quality students who are well prepared for research. The Registry is open to students and graduate schools in the fields of Anthropology/Archaeology, Arts/Humanities, Biology/Biochemistry, Business, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Economics, Education, Engineering, English and Linguistics, Environmental Studies, Geosciences, Health Professions, History, Journalism and Communications, Mathematics/Computer Science, Physics/ Astronomy, Political Science, Psychology, Social Work and Sociology.
Any undergraduate may go to http://www.cur.org/projects_and_services/registry/ to fill out a simple information form. Students may also elect to complete a longer curriculum vitae form. 1) Garnet River is interested in trying to bring in a couple of paid interns for summer programming jobs.
Positions we're interested in trying to fill would have somewhat flexible hours, but we'd be hoping for at least 30 hours a week, the majority of which would be spent during standard M-F business hours at our office at the corner of Divison St. and Railroad Pl. The positions would be paid, likely in the $10-$15/hr range based on experience. Below is a very brief skill set list:
The exact projects that we are targeting for this summer are still a bit up in the air, and will also depend on the applications we receive, but regardless, the intern would be working right alongside some of our seasoned veterans and would have ample opportunity to learn the necessary skills.
