  • Summer undergraduate research program - Laboratory of Integrative Neuroscience - U. of Ill. at Chicago (posted 1/6/04)
Summer program for undergraduates interested in research opportunities. The program, sponsored by the Laboratory of Integrative Neuroscience (LIN), the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology and the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago, with major funding from the National Science Foundation, is intended to introduce promising undergraduates to the process of conducting original research in Neurobiology and behavior. This summer's program will begin on Monday, June 7, 2004 and will conclude on Friday, July 30, 2004.  During the first week, students will participate in a mini-course on brain and behavior, and will choose a faculty mentor with whom to conduct research for the remaining seven weeks. Students accepted into the program will be housed on the UIC campus and receive a stipend of $2500 to cover living expenses. The program also pays for transportation to Chicago, up to $300. We are particularly interested in attracting talented minority students who have completed their second and third years of undergraduate work, and those who are truly open to the possibility of research in the brain sciences as a career. An electronic version of the application form, and additional information can be obtained by visiting our web site http://www.uic.edu/las/LIN or by sending an e-mail to the LIN Coordinator, Mary Wais, (mwais@uic.edu)
