Michael C. Ennis-McMillan, dean of studies and associate professor of anthropology, and Jill D. Sweet, professor emerita of anthropology, presented a paper titled “Anthropology, Photography, and the Ethics of Representing Pueblo Dance,” March 19 at the annual meetings of the Society for Applied Anthropology in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Publications
Jay Rogoff, lecturer in English, has his poem “The Fountain” in Literary Imagination, Vol. 11, No. 1 (2009). Another poem, “Mysteries,” has been reprinted in the anthology Don’t Leave Hungry: Fifty Years of Southern Poetry Review (University of Arkansas Press, 2009). His commissioned poem “Breath” appears in the current exhibition Ekphrasis: Art Into Words, at Adirondack Community College’s Visual Arts Gallery, March 12-April 16, 2009, as well as in the accompanying catalog.
Michael Ormsbee, visiting assitant professor, and Lauren Trantham, project manager, Exercise Science Department, recently had their research on resistance exercise and fat metabolism in lean and obese men accepted for publication in the Journal of Applied Physiology (electronic publication in advance of print).

Sandy Baum, professor of economics, is co-author (with Michael S. McPherson) of “Obama’s Plans for Higher Education: A Good Beginning, but More Is Needed,” published March 30 in the online Chronicle.com and scheduled to appear in the April 3 print edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education. In addition, Baum was quoted in a story titled “Money pinch stifles college ambitions” published March 30 in The Washington Times.
Catherine White Berheide, professor of sociology, was a source for a story titled “Dad charged for ‘whupping’ his son,” published March 26 in The Daily Gazette.
Bob Turner, associate professor of government, was a source for a number of media reports leading up to the March 31 special election to represent New York’s 20th Congressional district, including the following:
