Undefeated week for the Thoroughbreds
Skidmore's athletics teams combined to go a perfect 9-0 this week.

| Women's basketball team wins Skidmore Invitational. |
Women's basketball finished 2-0 at the 32nd annual Skidmore Invitational, defeating Elmira and St. John Fisher. Against Elmira, sophomore Christina Gargiso (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored 25 points off the bench and classmate Megan Gaugler (Amsterdam, N.Y.) added 17 in the victory. On Sunday against St. John Fisher, senior Sharlyn Harper (New York, N.Y.) scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds and was named Tournament MVP. Skidmore will host Sage College at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Sports and Recreation Center.
Men's basketball wrapped up a 3-0 week by defeating Ferrum College 74-63 Sunday to win the NYU Tip-Off Tournament in New York City. Junior Jeff Altimar (Medford, Mass.) was named Tournament MVP after scoring a team-high 15 in the championship game and pouring in 20 on Saturday during the 80-75 victory over NYU. The Thoroughbreds opened their season Tuesday night, defeating Cobleskill behind freshman Sakhile Sithole's (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa) 17 points and sophomore Gerard O'Shea's (West Sand Lake, N.Y.) 10 assists. Men's basketball hosts Southern Vermont at 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
Hockey launched the season with victories over league opponents New England College and Saint Anselm. The Thoroughbreds scored five second-period goals against New England College en route to an 8-6 victory. Junior Alex Mykolenko (Kharkov, Ukraine) scored two goals and had an assist, and sophomore Colin Bessey (Montclair, N.J.) made 29 saves. In the victory over Saint Anselm, freshman Zach Menard (Burlington, Mass.) had two goals and an assist while Bessey made 27 saves in net. Skidmore will host SUNY Potsdam at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Lake Placid and will take on Nichols College Saturday, Nov. 28, in the first round of the Skidmore Invitational.
Men's and women's swimming and diving picked up wins at
Utica College this weekend. On the
men's side, sophomore Doug Pilawa (Chardon, Ohio) qualified his 11 dive, 1
meter list for nationals with a combined score of 481.70, setting a new college
record; freshman Jesse Adler (Chappaqua, N.Y.) and seniors Tom Saglimbeni (West
Hampton Bays, N.Y.) and John Tyler Norton (Chappaqua, N.Y.) each had four
victories. On the women's side,
junior Kelsey Carson (Stamford, Conn.) earned four first-place finishes while
freshman Carrie Koch (Wellesley, Mass.) took two first-place finishes for
Skidmore. The teams compete next
in the Liberty League Championships December 4-5 at the University of
