Jazz virtuoso Reuben Rogers to return for concert

Versatile and virtuosic jazz bassist Reuben Rogers will perform in concert at Skidmore at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, in a public event featuring his own group of top-drawer players.  The performance will be in Skidmore’s Filene Recital Hall.  General admission for the public event is $5 or $2 students and seniors.

Joining Rogers will be sax player Ron Blake of the Saturday Night Live Band, pianist Danny Grissette, and drummer Kendrick Scott.

Born and raised in the Virgin Islands and a graduate of the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Rogers performed at Skidmore a year ago with the Aaron Goldberg Trio.

Rogers has also played and recorded with jazz greats including Dianne Reeves, Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove, Joshua Redman and Marcus Roberts. The bassist recently released his debut solo project, The Things I Am.

Rogers and his quartet will work with students in master classes throughout the day Nov. 3. The public is invited to observe. Call 580-5332 for information.
