International Education Week

~ NOVEMBER 12-16, 2012 ~

International Education Week is a joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education that endeavors to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States. It is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.

OCSE and other campus groups host several events during this important week to promote international education.

Here is this year's tentative schedule (additional events to be added):

Monday, November 12
  • Louis Perego Moreno, Raices Keynote Speaker, 7:00pm -9pm (Gannett Auditorium))
  • Job Search for International Students, 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. (Ladd 206)
    Megan Jackson will present a workshop for International Students to assist with job searching

Tuesday, November 13

  • Sticker Handout for Global Skidmore Day, 11am-1pm (Atrium and 2nd Floor Case)
    Come pick up your sticker to wear for Global Skidmore Day on Wednesday, November 14th.
  • Latino Banquet 6-9pm (2nd Floor Dining Hall)
    Banquet includes delicious Hispanic food cooked by the Latina Chef, Liz. There will be a speaker and a band playing latin music throughout the night!
Wednesday, November 14
  • Global Skidmore Day!
    All Day!
    This is a day to celebrate and recognize the members of the Skidmore community that make Skidmore a more Global campus! If you have studied, lived, worked, or traveled abroad or you just want to show your support for international education - wear your Global Skidmore sticker proud!
Thursday, November 15

  • International Trivia Night 8-11pm (The Spa)
    OCSE, ISU, UJIMA, and the French Connection are holding an International Trivia Night. There will be music, food, and prizes!
