Courses and Credits
Skidmore in China - Shanghai offers two distinct academic tracks. Courses for the Shanghai Business Studies program are offered at the Shanghai University of Fiance and Economics (SUFE), while courses for the Shanghai 21st Century program are offered through the School of Social Development and Public Policy at Fudan University.
Shanghai Business Studies
The Shanghai Business Studies curriculum combines language study, classroom lectures, and internship placements in international and local companies to introduce students to the complexities of the Chinese business mentality and strategies and to position students to succeed in today's highly competitive global market. Participants enroll in one intensive Mandarin language course (all levels; required; 6 credits), Understanding China (developed specifically for Skidmore students; required; 3 credits), and two elective courses or an internship and one elective course (3 credits each). Because all courses are taught in English, there is no language pre-requisite for the Shanghai Business Studies program.
Shanghai 21st Century China
The Shanghai 21st Century China program enables students to take one intensive language course (all levels; required; 6 credits), Understanding China (developed specifically for Skidmore students; required; 3 credits), and two elective courses or an internship and one elective course (3 credits each). Students have the incredible opportunity to study alongside Chinese peers in joint elective classes taught at Fudan University in English. Because all courses are taught in English, there is no language requirement for the Shanghai 21st Century China program.
