Skidmore students abroad at Chartres Cathedral

OCSE Approved Programs

Off-Campus Study at Skidmore College has been developed to complement Skidmore’s degree programs and meet the high standards of a Skidmore education. Skidmore College views off-campus study as an extension of the student’s Skidmore academic experience. Our main objective for our off-campus program structure is to include programs that allow Skidmore to integrate more closely our students’ experiences off-campus with their work here on campus. All off-campus programs are linked to Skidmore’s curriculum and are meant to support majors and minors. To do this Skidmore has developed Skidmore programs abroad, a list of approved study abroad programs, and a number of domestic study opportunities including the National Student Exchange program. Skidmore College also uses a financial structure that allows an inclusive approach to off-campus study.

Administered through Off-Campus Study and Exchanges (OCSE), students may study abroad on Skidmore ProgramsSkidmore in Beijing, Skidmore in London, Skidmore in Paris, Paris Fall Seminar, Skidmore in Madrid, Skidmore in Alcalá, and The Shakespeare Programme – and other Approved Programs.

The Approved Programs list includes programs around the world that Skidmore considers the best compliment to the academic quality and administrative support offered our students on campus. Approved Programs have been determined by Skidmore’s academic departments and programs in conjunction with the Off-Campus Study & Exchanges.

The National Student Exchange (NSE) program allows students to study for up to one calendar year at one of almost 200 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. Students choose their host campus by working closely with their academic advisor(s) and the OCSE Coordinator responsible for the NSE program. Skidmore sponsors additional opportunities such as the Washington Semester at American University in Washington D.C. (administered through the government department) and Woods Hole Marine Biological Laboratory in Cape Cod, Massachusetts (administered through the biology department.)
