The First-Year Experience in London is designed to take advantage of the rich and varied resources of London and its surrounding areas, beginning with a detailed program orientation upon arrival. Skidmore’s faculty directors will organize and sponsor a number of cultural and social events for our students. Many of these events will supplement the Scribner Seminar, while other events will provide students a chance to get to know London and each other. In addition, each IES course will include four or five field trips that will directly relate to and enhance the work students are doing in class. All of these activities are aimed at introducing students to the many faces of London.

Even before students travel to London, they will participate in a pre-departure orientation on Skidmore's campus in Saratoga Springs, NY. The pre-departure orientation for the fall 2012 program will begin on Monday, August 20, 2012. Students are expected to arrive on campus between 9:00-11:30 am on Monday, August 20th.
