Arts & Business Courses and Credits
Students studying on the Arts & Business program will enroll in 15-17 credits at the Skidmore Center in Paris and at other institutions throughout Paris. Each student is required to take a French language course and the French History and Society course. All courses are taught in English except for the French language courses.
Coursework taken in Paris is reported on a Skidmore transcript, and grades will be computed into the Skidmore GPA. Maturity-level credits taken in Paris may count toward Skidmore's maturity-level requirements upon departmental approval. Visiting students should check with their home campuses for information on credit transfer.
Skidmore Center Courses
Each semester, the Skidmore Center will provide 2-3 courses just for students on the program. Skidmore Center courses are only for students on the program and are taught by French or international faculty. Courses offered at the Skidmore Center are taught in English, except for French language courses.
Partner Institutions (Courses outside of the Skidmore Center)
Skidmore partners other academic institutions in Paris to offer additional courses taught in English for students. Course options outside of the Skidmore Center are limited to studio art (painting, drawing, and photography), art history, business, and economics. Students with at least one semester of French may be eligible to take dance courses.
Académie de Port Royal
American Business School in Paris (ABS)
Centre de Danse du Marais*
Institut de Langue et de Culture Française (ILCF) at l’Institut Catholique de Paris
Studio Vermès
*Requires at least one semester of prior French or FF 101
Actual course offerings available outside the center will vary each semester depending on what is available through the local universities and students’ academic needs. On occasion, some of the French universities may offer a limited number of courses taught in English in other disciplines (to be determined upon arrival). The exact list of courses available at outside institutions will NOT be available until after arrival in Paris.
For information about course options for the Arts & Business program, please see the Arts & Business Course Guide.
Skidmore students who are enrolled in or have completed FF 203 should apply for the Skidmore in Paris: Advanced Studies program.
