Semester: Fall 2010
Major: Spanish
Minor(s): Italian and Business

What was the most memorable experience of your semester off campus?

The friendships I made with the other students on the program and with the international students living in our residency.

How has studying abroad contributed to your personal, academic, and/or professional development?

Learning to manage money on a budget and truly appreciating the benefits of being independent and exploring your interest in a new environment. Studying abroad made me realize how much I enjoyed international travel, meeting new people and learning about their culture. It helped me develop my major focus on languages so that my career can be located in several areas around the world and work with people with different cultures and backgrounds.

What advice can you offer for Skidmore students who are considering or planning to study abroad?

Try and put yourself out there to meet new people and try new things. Also, don't be afraid to go do some things on your own, some of my favorite days were just going to the National Gallery and finding a cool cafe to grab a coffee and sandwich.
