Workshop Focus
Each day will include classes in technique, phrasework, and composition. In addition, afternoons and evenings will include composition lab and rehearsal time for creating studies and works in collaboration with other participants in dance and theater. New Work Creation
Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company is collaborating with award-winning director Anne Bogart and SITI Company to create a new dance-theater work coinciding with the 100th anniversary of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. This new work, A Meditation on The Rite of Spring, will be developed by the companies while in residence at Skidmore. The piece is commissioned by Carolina Performing Arts, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and will premiere in January 2013.
Supplemental Activities
Additional activities include a performance of theBill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on June 7, open rehearsals, and social events. Rehearsal space is available in the evenings and on weekends, and students will have the opportunity to create and perform their own work. Participants can also choose to attend SaratogaArtsFest June 7–10, a three-day festival of the arts offering.
