Welcome!
Over the course of its more than 30 year history Special Programs has built on Lucy Skidmore Scribner’s founding principles of linking theoretical with applied learning, enriching the academic and intellectual life of the College, and providing students of all ages with life-long learning opportunities. Special Programs provides resources for innovation and experimentation, enhances the diversity of the campus community and adds to the College’s connections to the world. Special Programs and its distinctive array of institutes, seminars, residencies, and programs have contributed substantially to Skidmore’s unique place among liberal arts colleges and to its national prominence as a place for academic experimentation and cutting-edge artistic creation and development.
On this web site you will find full descriptions of the many credit and noncredit programs in the liberal, studio, creative, and performing arts for pre-collegiate, college-level and and post-graduate level and professional study; opportunities for lifelong learning through community and continuing education programs; an extensive array of lecture series, events and residencies; and undergraduate and graduate individualized study degree programs. All share a spirit of innovation, broad access, and serious educational endeavor.
